DRAMATIC ! Sa’ad Abdullahi Lament Over Hospital Equipments He Donated was Sold Out by Management in Nasarawa
A controversy has reportedly emerged at Umaisha General Hospital in Toto Local Government Area of Nasarawa State after donated items meant to improve healthcare services were allegedly sold.
Saāad Abdullahi, an APC member of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly representing the Umaisha/Ugya Constituency, reportedly donated 50 ceiling fans, 40 standing fans and 50 orthopaedic mattresses to the hospital.
According to theĀ incident’s video Ā circulating online, Abdullahi returned to the hospital several weeks later for a follow-up visit and was reportedly shocked to discover that the donated items were no longer available. It was alleged that the items had been sold.
The development has sparked concerns about accountability and the proper management of donations intended for public institutions. Donations of medical equipment and other essential items are often made to support healthcare facilities, improve patientsā comfort and assist medical workers in providing better services.
If the allegation is confirmed, questions would naturally arise about who authorised the alleged sale, where the proceeds went and why the items were disposed of despite their intended purpose.
The incident has also generated a wider conversation about responsibility in public service. While citizens frequently criticise political leaders and public officials for poor governance, cases such as this raise questions about the role of individuals entrusted with managing public resources.
The situation is a reminder that improving public institutions requires responsibility from everyone involvedānot only elected officials but also administrators, workers and members of the community.
As the controversy continues, many Nigerians are calling for transparency and a proper investigation to establish what happened to the donated items and ensure that resources meant for patients are protected.
The broader lesson is simple: we cannot demand good leadership while failing to protect and responsibly manage the resources provided for the public good.
