TERRIBLE! “They Threatened to Keep and Rape Us for One Month, Then Kill Us” — NYSC Member rescued from Bandits Recounts Ordeal in Kogi
A rescued National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member, David Ayodele, has recounted the terrifying experience he allegedly endured after being abducted alongside other victims and taken into a forest in Kogi State.
Ayodele said the abductors threatened to keep the victims in captivity for about one month and allegedly warned that they would be killed afterwards. According to the viral video of the statement, the captors also made threats of sexual violence against the victims, adding to the fear and psychological trauma of those being held.
Speaking after his rescue, Ayodele reportedly described the period in captivity as an ordeal marked by fear, uncertainty and constant concern for their lives.
He explained that the victims were taken away from the safety of their normal surroundings and forced into the forest, where they remained at the mercy of their captors. The threats allegedly made by the abductors left the victims uncertain about whether they would survive the ordeal.
The rescue has brought relief to the victims, their families and members of the NYSC community, while once again drawing attention to the security challenges facing travellers and residents in parts of Nigeria.
Kidnapping and banditry remain major security concerns in several parts of the country, with victims often subjected to harsh conditions while their families struggle to secure their release.
