Dramatic: Fisherman’s Close Encounter With Octopus Goes Viral:  Octopus Catch Fisherman On Fisherman’s Attempt to Catch Octopus

A fisherman in Palawan, Philippines, reportedly learned the hard way that catching an octopus can come with an unexpected fight.
Jesser Cervantes was hunting octopus off the coast of Puerto Princesa when he caught one and attempted a common technique used by fishermen to weaken the animal. However, the octopus fought back, attaching its tentacles firmly to his face.
In the incident’s video  circulating online, the creature can be seen gripping Cervantes’ nose, mouth and eye area with its powerful suction cups. For nearly 30 seconds, he struggled to remove the octopus as it held tightly to his face.
Another fisherman, Clarence Tamula, reportedly experienced a similar encounter around the same period. He described the sensation as an intense stinging and suction that can cause the skin to become increasingly red the longer the octopus remains attached.
The fishermen have reportedly insisted that the footage was genuine and not staged for social media attention.
For many fishermen in the area, octopus fishing has become an additional source of income as the rising cost of pursuing larger fish makes alternative catches increasingly important. However, the encounters also demonstrate the risks involved in handling marine animals.
Cervantes eventually managed to remove the octopus with the help of a paddle and released it back into the sea. The animal was reportedly unharmed.
The unusual encounter has since attracted attention online, with viewers amused and surprised by the octopus’s determined resistance.
The incident serves as a reminder that even seemingly routine fishing activities can quickly become unpredictable when dealing with wild animals. In this case, the octopus clearly had no intention of giving up without a fight.
