According to the company, the temporary power interruption is necessary to allow engineers carry out critical maintenance and upgrade operations aimed at improving the reliability and stability of electricity supply within the affected areas. The outage is expected to begin in the morning hours and last for approximately six hours before power is fully restored.

TCN explained that the maintenance exercise will involve technical work on the transformer facilities at the McPherson Substation, a key infrastructure point responsible for distributing electricity to numerous communities and industrial areas across Ogun State. The company noted that the planned shutdown is part of broader efforts to strengthen the national grid and reduce incidents of unexpected power failures.

Residents and business owners in the affected communities have been advised to make adequate preparations ahead of the scheduled outage. Many small-scale businesses, particularly those dependent on electricity for daily operations, are expected to feel the impact of the temporary disruption. Some residents also expressed concerns over the recurring nature of maintenance-related blackouts, especially amid ongoing economic challenges and rising operational costs for businesses relying on alternative power sources.

Despite the inconvenience, energy experts maintain that periodic maintenance of transmission infrastructure remains essential for preventing larger system failures and ensuring long-term efficiency in electricity distribution. They noted that proactive maintenance can help minimize transformer breakdowns, equipment damage, and extended nationwide outages.

TCN appealed to customers to remain patient and cooperative during the maintenance period, assuring the public that power supply would be restored immediately after the completion of the technical work. The company also reiterated its commitment to improving power transmission capacity and enhancing service delivery across the country.

The announcement comes at a time when Nigerians continue to call for more stable and reliable electricity supply to support economic growth, industrial productivity, and improved living standards.
