According to eyewitness accounts, the suspects were reportedly caught following allegations that they had been involved in criminal activities targeting unsuspecting commuters in the area. The incident quickly drew the attention of local youths and residents, who descended on the suspects before security operatives could intervene.
Videos and images circulating on social media showed a large crowd gathered around the suspects, with many expressing frustration over the persistent threat posed by one-chance operators in the city. The suspects were reportedly beaten by the mob as angry residents sought immediate justice for their alleged actions.

The “one-chance” scheme, a form of robbery in which criminals disguise themselves as commercial transport operators to lure and rob passengers, has remained a major security concern in several Nigerian cities. Victims are often dispossessed of their valuables and, in some cases, subjected to physical harm.
While many residents have expressed relief over the arrest of the suspected criminals, others have condemned the act of jungle justice, emphasizing the need for suspects to be handed over to law enforcement agencies for proper investigation and prosecution.
Security experts and human rights advocates continue to warn against mob action, noting that such incidents can lead to wrongful punishment and undermine the rule of law. They have urged members of the public to cooperate with security agencies whenever criminal suspects are apprehended.
